To celebrate 60 years of The Yardbirds, Demon Records is proud to present a new series of 7â vinyl singles, beginning with the classic psychedelic single âHappenings Ten Years Time Agoâ.
In the summer of 1966, Yardbird Paul Samwell-Smith left the group to pursue a career as a record producer â his replacement was studio session guitarist Jimmy Page. With Page in the fold, the band began to explore heavier, more progressive sounds. âHappenings Ten Years Time Agoâ is the finest example of this, fully showcasing the dual-lead guitar line up of Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck in âa full-on six-string apocalypseâ.
Whilst the single was not a commercial success at the time of release, it has since been recognised for itâs pioneering sound and appears at number three on Record Collectorâs list of the â100 Greatest Psychedelic Recordsâ. This new reissue has been mastered by Phil Kinrade and cut by Jasper Ward at AIR Mastering. Housed in a heavy-stock card sleeve featuring the rare German issue cover with spot UV detailing.
