Reissued in 2014, James Brown's 37th album is one of his best. The Payback was originally recorded as the soundtrack to Hell Up In Harlem and was rejected because the producers felt the tracks were too long and "the same old James Brown Stuff', but, hey, what do film producers know about the FUNK?
