2019 was a standout year for acclaimed soul singer P.P. Arnold, as Londonâs âFirst Lady Of Soulâ released âThe New Adventures of⊠P.P. Arnoldâ - her first album of new material since the early 1970âs. The studio album featured stunning contributions from Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Sceneâs Steve Cradock, The Specials and P.P.âs son, Kojo Samuel. Together with a nine-piece band, Arnold embarked on a UK tour to promote the record, culminating in the forthcoming release of her brand-new live album âLive In Liverpoolâ. âLive In Liverpoolâ was recorded during the last night of the âNew Adventuresâ tour at Grand Central Hall, Liverpool, UK, on October 18th, 2019. It features true P.P. Arnold classics, like âThe First Cut Is The Deepestâ and âAngel Of The Morningâ, as well as special live versions of the songs from âThe New Adventures of⊠P.P. Arnoldâ, such as âI Believeâ, âHold On To Your Dreamsâ, Paul Wellerâs âShoot The Doveâ, the Northern Soul classic âYou Got Meâ, and Steve Cradockâs âStill Tryingâ and âMagic Hourâ. This special live performance is a true testament to P.P. Arnoldâs versatility as a vocalist and her charisma as a performer, and shows just how effortlessly her rich, soulful voice lends itself to various genres, from soul to rhythm and blues to rock and pop.
âI was over the moon with how well the concert had gone. Steve had pulled off the dream of performing the album live and it sounding so close to the original recording.â, P.P. Arnold recalls when asked about that special night in Liverpool, âThe band was brilliant, the girls sounded like angels, and I felt so good, so pleased that it had all gone so well.â âLive In Liverpoolâ will be released as 180g black double vinyl, packed in a high quality gatefold jacket, as well as CD Digipak edition on the earMUSIC label.
