Naked In New York 2003

More Info

Formed in Oxford in 1985, Radiohead quickly became one of the most influential British bands of their generation. Emerging from the success of their early singles, they steadily evolved from guitar driven alternative rock to more experimental, electronic and textural work, building a reputation for constant reinvention and artistic restlessness. By the turn of the century they were firmly established as one of the most important and forward looking groups of their era, with a string of critically and commercially adored albums to their name.

In 2003 the band released Hail to the Thief, a record that blended sonic exploration with lyrical political commentary criticising George W. Bush and the war on terror. To mark its release, Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood teamed up with radio station KROQ-FM to present a stripped back set performed live at Electric Lady Studios in New York City on 4 June 2003.

Broadcast directly to radio listeners and recorded in front of a select few lucky competition winners, the session revealed the songs in their acoustic and barest form, highlighting the duo’s song writing craft and the emotional intensity at the heart of the album.
