Warm Nights (2024 Reissue)
More Info
The 'Directors' Cut' re-issue, featuring revised tracklisting and previously unreleased material. Originally released in 1996, Warm Nights repositioned Robertâs standing as one of the great songwriters of the post-punk era. Robert recalls that producer Edwyn Collins âgot the [intended] sound of the album completely: a dry low-end groove pitched somewhere between Creedence Clearwater Revival and Willie Mitchellâs early â70s Hi Records work.â Towards the end of the sessions some complications arose â and itâs these complications that Robert has seized the chance to remedy for this new release of Warm Nights. âIt was Edwynâs idea,â explains Robert, âto bring in a three-piece brass section â it fitted some of the songs beautifully, but it was in the mixing of the brass and the effect it had on the running order that things got complicated, [resulting in] two changes to the album that have been bugging me for 25 years.â Finally, Robert can sleep easy. The revised edition of 'Warm Nights' sees the inclusion of the brass version âFortressâ and the addition of "Half The Way Homeâ (a song that Robert rashly demoted from the original album and is here for the first time on vinyl). Complementing the revised iteration of Warm Nights is a 7" EP featuring the original album version of âFortressâ, âRock ânâ Roll Friendâ, âHypnotizedâ (originally released on the Cryinâ Love CD single) and âDid You End Up With The One You Love?", a beautiful, hitherto forgotten song Needle Mythology unearthed from the original tape reels from the West Heath recording sessions. Ltd edition of 1000 black vinyl to retail First time on vinyl for some of the songs Remastered at Abbey Road Brand new artwork inc. new liner notes from Robert This year has seen Robert receive career-best reviews for his most recent album, The Candle & The Flame and, through Needle Mythology, he even made time to create his own signature muesli, Spring Grain, which has been featured in The Times Saturday Magazine and Observer Food Monthly. In May he returns to Europe for a string of dates commencing in Amsterdam on May 4, taking in two London shows at Omeara on May 24 and 25. Volume 3 of G Is For Go-Betweens is also scheduled for release in 2024.
